Creating Your First Survey

Build and share a team feedback survey in minutes.

Last updated April 2026

Surveys let you gather structured feedback from your team on any topic. Whether you want to check team morale, get input on a process change, or run an engagement pulse, Manager Toolkit makes it straightforward. Here is how to create and share your first survey.

Building Your Survey

Navigate to Surveys from the sidebar and click New Survey.
Give your survey a title and optional description. The title should make the purpose clear, for example "Q2 Team Satisfaction Check" or "Remote Working Preferences".
Add your first question. Choose a question type - common choices include multiple choice, rating scale, and free text. Write the question clearly and keep it concise.
Continue adding questions. A good survey typically has between 5 and 15 questions. Each question can be marked as required or optional.
Review your survey from top to bottom. Check that questions flow logically and that you have not asked the same thing twice in different ways.

Sharing Your Survey

When you are ready, set the survey to live. This generates a shareable link that respondents can use to submit their answers.
Copy the share link and distribute it to your team. You can send it via email, Slack, or any other channel. Respondents do not need a Manager Toolkit account to complete the survey.

You can optionally set a password on the survey if you want to restrict who can respond. See Sharing and Responses for more details.

Viewing Responses

As responses come in, you can view them on the survey's results page. Each question shows a breakdown of answers, and you can see individual responses as well as aggregate data.

Pro users can generate AI-powered insights from survey results, highlighting key themes and suggested actions based on the feedback.

Tips for Your First Survey

  • Keep it short - shorter surveys get higher response rates
  • Mix question types - use a combination of ratings, multiple choice, and one or two open-ended questions
  • Explain the purpose - people are more likely to give thoughtful answers when they understand why they are being asked
  • Act on the results - the most important step is following up on what you learn
After your survey closes, create actions from the key findings. This shows your team that their feedback leads to real change.
